Our signature fundraiser, “Red Tent” took place on
Sunday, 26 April 2009. It was sold out and proved to be
a successful fundraiser for the fourth year in a row.

About Red Tent
Red Tent (www.redtent.ca)
is the signature event in support of The Marguerite
Centre.
On Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 12:30 –
4:30 p.m., women will visit one of eight fabulous spas
(Red Tents) including Balance Naturopathic Health
Centre, Embrace Spa, The Spa at Fox Harb’r, Kara’s Urban
Day Spa, Mudwraps to Manicures, Oak Island Resort and
Spa, Remedy Facial Bar & Spa and Spirit Spa. While here
they will experience a spa treatment, yoga class and a
personal growth session designed for individual
well-being. They will be nourished by spa cuisine and
energized by the spirit of women helping women.
Why “Red Tent”
Inspired by the best-selling book of
the same name, the Red Tent was a place where women
gathered to help each other restore harmony, learn and
grow stronger through soothing and energizing exchanges.
Our version of Red Tent is an afternoon of spa
treatments, personal growth and so much more. The event
concept was inspired by the similarities between the
healing that takes place at both The Marguerite Centre
and in spas.
Why this is important
Women are the fabric of
our society. They hold families together. They give
birth, nurture and love. Women are natural-born
helpers.
But sometimes they need
help.
There are
over 20,000 women in Nova
Scotia with addictions. The Marguerite Centre
(www.margueritecentre.ns.ca)
is a healing place for women recovering from addictions
and abuse. It is the only facility of its kind for
women in Nova Scotia.
Marguerite
Centre believes in the
opportunity for women to recover from their addictions
in a safe place where their unique needs will be met,
their issues addressed and their voices heard. Our
holistic approach to programming empowers women to
travel on their personal path to healing and recovery.
This approach is having remarkable results. The women
say that “here, life begins again”.
