The Marguerite Centre
provides a woman centered, holistic program that includes:
Individual and
group counseling sessions that address issues
surrounding addictions and various forms of abuse, anger
management, self esteem, relaxation and developing
healthy personal boundaries.
We offer
workshops / support that provide:
Our
counsellors and/or personnel from community agencies
conduct most programming in-house.
The Women's Problem
Gambling Recovery Program
The Marguerite Centre is
dedicated to offering women recovery options which meet
their individual and unique needs. The Women's
Problem Gambling Recovery Program (WPGRP), which
began in the Fall/2004, complements the recovery program
for substance abuse currently provided at the Centre.
A first for women in Nova Scotia, the WPGRP addresses problem gambling and its surrounding
issues in the context and experiences of women. Often
referred to as the "Hidden Addiction" problem gambling
has become more pervasive in Nova Scotia in the past
decade especially among women with devastating effects
on families and relationships. The WPGRP offers
education, support and recovery for the female problem
gambler and her family. Eventually, support groups
comprised of women from surrounding communities will be
facilitated at the Centre and shared with other agencies
which assist women in crisis thus expanding the scope of
services offered by the Marguerite Centre. |
